When it comes to keeping your teeth healthy, prevention is always better than cure. That’s why we encourage preventative dental care at Dentist Mandy so you can avoid unnecessary issues with your teeth in the future.
Keeping your teeth healthy doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, maintenance is key and it can be as simple as doing these three things:
Your dental visit at our Macquarie Street clinic will involve a comprehensive exam, scaling, polish and fluoride treatment. We may also need to take some dental x-rays in order to get a closer look at any damage or disease that isn’t immediately obvious to the naked eye.
Regular dental cleaning both in-clinic and at home is a good way to maintain the health of your teeth. The frequency of your visits will depend on your individual situation, but we generally like to see our patients at least twice a year. Health insurance can cover general dental cleaning. However, it’s always a good idea to check with your healthcare provider before you make an appointment with us.
And here’s the great news… our dental cleaning services on Macquarie Street can be done during your lunch break! If you have any questions or need further details, feel free to call us. We’d love to hear from you. Our friendly team members will be happy to answer your questions. .
Q: How often should you book in for a dental clean?
A: We generally recommended two dental cleans a year. However, this can differ from person to person.
Q: Is dental cleaning painful?
A: The level of your comfort will depend on your individual tolerance levels and the general state of your teeth. Sometimes we need to clean deeper towards the root of your tooth which may cause discomfort. As an example, if you have severe gum disease, it’s more likely that you’ll experience discomfort because of the high levels of bacteria and debris that need to be removed. However, rest assured, that whatever your situation, our aim at Dentist Mandy is to help you feel as comfortable as possible during any procedure. So, we may use numbing agents or anaesthetic if it’s necessary.
Q: What’s involved in a dental clean?
A: A standard cleaning procedure involves a comprehensive exam to detect for any dental decay; scaling to remove plaque, debris and bacteria from the teeth and pockets of your gums; polish to remove smoking, coffee and wine stains; and fluoride treatment to remineralise and protect your teeth.
Q: How long does dental cleaning take?
A: Not very long at all! In fact, you can book in for a complete dental clean for 30 – 45 minutes during your lunch break.
Q: Is professional dental cleaning necessary?
A: In most cases, yes. A professional dental clean goes beyond the regular brushing and flossing that you do at home. When you book in to see one of our dental practitioners, your appointment will involve a thorough scale and clean in order to remove the build-up of plaque and tartar that can lead to bacterial infections.
Q: Is Fluoride safe?
Yes, in small doses. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that we use to help mineralise your tooth enamel to prevent future cavities. Our dental practitioners only use small doses during a regular dental clean which is a completely safe practice. Please let us know if you prefer not to have flouride.
